About

Kim Gagne was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She left for art school aged eighteen and attended Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts, (part of the University of Massachusetts) where she received a BFA in oil painting. 

In her third year at Swain, attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, a nine-week summer residency program in Madison, Maine, where she produced small landscape paintings of the surrounding area.

After completing her degree from Swain, she moved to Manhattan where she attended graduate school and studied oil painting with Paul Resika and Leland Bell at the New School’s MFA program. 

After leaving the New School, Kim moved back to Massachusetts where she began a career with Verizon, as a Design Engineer.  

In 2019 she was awarded a month-long fellowship to The Jentel Artist Residency, in Banner Wyoming. 

In 2024 she completed an MFA in Creative Writing nonfiction from Southern New Hampshire University’s Mountainview program.
